15th year for Winter Physical Activity Challenge

Tue, 12/12/2017 - 9:15am

Are you ready to stay active this winter? LincolnHealth and 5-2-1-0 Let’s Go! Lincoln County, along with local non-profits, schools and others, are supporting the 15th annual Winter Physical Activity Challenge. Last year it was “Dashing to Denmark” and this year we are “Jumping to Japan”.

Between 700 and 900 adults, young adults, and children participate each year. Won’t you join us this year?

This Winter Challenge is a seven-week event in which participants are physically active at least 30 minutes, four times a week or an equivalent amount of time in order to reach the goal of “traveling” to a distant location. Exercise enough to get to Japan or enough to return to Maine. It’s up to you.

Exercise by yourself, or get a team together and exercise with friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors. The winter months in Maine are long, so this program encourages individuals and teams in the community to get active and have fun!

The challenge will run from Jan. 8 to Feb. 23, and many indoor locations will be made available again this year for participants to walk safely for free.

Registration is required to participate. The cost is $3 per person for adults, and $1 for children 17 years and younger. A special group rate is available for schools, childcare, and after school sites. We welcome everyone’s participation.

For registration forms or more information, contact the LincolnHealth Education Department at 563-4540 or email kristina.verney@lchcare.org. Registrations are due Wednesday, Jan. 3.
