Hawke and Dow win

At press time, here are the results we have for Tuesday’s Election Day voting:

Boothbay voters approved the proposed roundabout. Votes on the three articles went as follows: Article 2: yes 1,093, no 889; Article 3: yes 1,121, no 968; Article 4: yes 1,114, no 996.

Wiscasset voted to let the town’s firefighters continue to wash their personal vehicles at the fire station. Votes tallied up at 1,502 yes, 707 no.

Democrat Christopher Johnson lost to GOP candidate Dana Dow for the Senate District 13 seat. Press time voting tallies had Dow with 12,108 votes and Johnson with 10,759.

House District 89 will be represented by incumbent Republican Stephanie Hawke, who defeated Independent challenger Wendy Wolf, 3,048 to 2,564.

Republican Jeff Hanley kept the House District 87 seat with 3,041 votes to Democrat Wendy Ross’s 2,257.

Democrat Mick Devin defeated GOP candidate Robin Mayer for the House District 90 race. Devin's votes totaled 3,335, while Mayer's were 2,304.

In House District 53, Republican Jeff Pierce defeated William Neilson, 2,020 to 1,348.

In Woolwich, incumbent Dale Chadbourne and challenger Allen Greene won two open seats on the select board. Chadbourne received 1,238 votes, while Greene received 703 votes. Two other challengers, Don Adams and Gary Harvey received 554 votes and 453 votes, respectively.

U.S. House Maine District 1 voters re-elected Democrat Chellie Pingree over Republican candidate Mark Holbrook. 207,291 for Pingree, 150,952 for Holbrook.

Ballot initiative votes in Lincoln County:

Question 1: Legalization of recreational marijuana. yes 10,870; no 11,007.

Question 2: Tax on Incomes over $200,000 to be used for public education. yes 10,850; no 10,993.

Question 3: background checks. yes 9,851; no 12,097.

Question 4: Increase minimum wage. yes 12,297; no 9,567.

Question 5: Ranked Choice voting system. yes 11,020; no 10,474.

Question 6: Transportation bond. yes 13,733; no 7,916.
