Master of stone, bronze, and the human form, Barry Baldwin’s sculptures are on public exhibit in London, Cardiff, Manchester, Hamburg and California.

Major clients over the past decades have included Berkeley Castle, the English Royal Family and Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, in addition to many private collections throughout the world.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, this internationally respected artist comes to the Opera House in Boothbay Harbor to present his lecture, “My Kind of Rock,” at 5 p.m., followed by a meet-the-artist reception. The presentation will take place on the main stage, on the first floor of the opera house, which is handicapped accessible.

From his youth in the Britain to a stint in the Israeli Army, to his pursuits and accomplishments as a professional sculptor, Barry Baldwin has witnessed and collected the essence of human life.

He shares this bounty though his art and his teachings. When Baldwin speaks, students and audiences enjoy his colorful stories, but also gain insight into the traditional carving and casting techniques that have brought his magnificent artworks into the public realm throughout Europe.

This is a rare opportunity to hear and meet this renowned artist and learn more about his work and major installations throughout the world. His lecture at the Opera House is his only public speaking event in Maine this summer.
