Bath’s 3rd Friday Art Walk August 15

Fri, 08/15/2014 - 3:00pm

Discover Bath’s lively arts community during the 2014 season’s 3rd Friday Art Walk & Tour on Friday, Aug. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Venues will be marked on location with festive blue or green bowhead flags and yard signs. The featured artist this month at Sharon Drake Real Estate on Front Street will be ArtVan students, with refreshments catered by Mae’s Cafe.

Explore the street level galleries and upper level studios in Bath’s award-winning, historic downtown district. Over 30 artists are participating with open studios, galleries, and group shows presenting paintings, photographs, and works in ceramics, glass, wood, and other materials to express each artist’s vision.

Most of the artists’ studios are clustered around Front and Centre streets, allowing visits to multiple locations, including a group exhibit at Bath City Hall and art displayed at the Kennebec Company showroom in the Customs House. A handful of artists are located outside the downtown where they will welcome guests in their open studios.

All venues and a description of the participating artists can be found on the 3rd Friday Bath Art Walk map/brochure, available at downtown Bath businesses and at www.visitbath.com.

Bath's Art Walk also features musicians and other sidewalk performers at the corner of Front and Centre streets, and a 3rd Friday concert at the Chocolate Church Arts Centre following Art Walk each month.

Music on the sidewalk in August, 5-7 p.m.: Heather Hardy (with Nancy Sferra). Winner of the 2013 Maine Songwriting Competition and 2nd place winner of the 2012 New England Songwriting Contest. Hardy is a singer-songwriter living in Bristol, Maine. She plays guitar and baritone ukelele, and has a blast playing her guitar like a stand up bass. Hardy blends her unique voice with rich melodies, often highlighting mouth trumpet instrumentals in her songs. She is a co-host of the Round Top Coffee House in Damariscotta, and teaches songwriting, guitar and ukulele for all ages.
