The Bayville Buzz: Can I come to your party?

Tue, 08/01/2017 - 10:15am

This weekend will be a busy one, beginning Friday at Lawn Cottage with a party celebrating the birth of Olivia and Saturday’s nuptials of Hannah. For those of you wondering, Hannah is not the mom, but one of her sisters is. Sorry, not sure which one is, you will have to go to the party to find out.

In other Merrill news, their trip to Rockport was almost met with great success as the Celebration raced to first on both days 2 and 3. However, due to some mysterious equipment malfunctions, Celebration was not able to make the starting line on day 1. Please cooperate with any agents from the USSF as they investigate the situation. Their findings are scheduled to be released in March of 2020.

Saturday morning kicks off with the Bayville Village Corporation meeting with your host Greg and the board. Yes, they are a rock band in their spare time. After the meeting, Operation Tables and Chairs takes place as we (please note the collective we) set-up for the evening’s Lobster Bake. In addition to the consumption of fantastic food, our 21-plus crowd is anxiously awaiting the opportunity to sample this year’s entries for the best libations and for title of the Bayville Buzz. I don't mean to brag, but good luck beating my stripe bass infused rum.

Though the noise abatement officer has not issued any citations, there have been several reports of infractions. I have attempted to crash a few raucous events to join in the revelry, but was somehow not on the invite list (an oversight I'm sure) and could not slip past security. However, I can report that Lou Mucci and Tika Meener have both had recent birthday celebrations. The Mortons also enjoyed some early season excitement.

The Suttons, Robitailles, and McDonoughs have all had their "kids" and families visiting. Speaking of the Robitailles, tickets are on sale daily for the Big Wheel competitions being held at their newly opened track.

The Allison Cottage may have set off the dosimeter this past weekend, too, as all siblings were again together for the first time since April. There were lots of laughs, no tears and everyone is still on speaking terms. I hope your reunions are as successful. Our love and thanks to our Dad and Cec for their fantastic hospitality. We know it wasn't easy.

Everyone is urged to get plenty of rest this week, as there will be very limited opportunities over the weekend. Enjoy!
