Books in Boothbay

Things are almost set for this year’s Books in Boothbay Book Fair, and here at the Library, we’re hoping you’re looking forward to it as much as we are.

We’ve got more than 40 Maine authors lined up to join us at the Railway Village. They’ll be set up in the old Town Hall building to talk with fans and autograph books from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 8.

Among this year’s guests, and in no particular order, are last Friday’s literary lunch author Susan Poulin, 2014 Malice Domestic Lifetime Achievement Award winner Dorothy Cannell, The Five Stones Trilogy Author G.A. Morgen, Bianca Goddard Mysteries writer Mary Lawrence, and Michelle Patch and Thomas Block, author and illustrator of “The Boston Terrier Who Thought He Was a Loon,” which won the Excellence in Graphic Arts Award at the 2017 New England Book show.

We’ll also have local non-fiction writers Sarah Sherman McGrail and Stephen Hantzis, children’s authors Liza Gardner Walsh, Francine McEwen, and Wendy Ulmer, mystery writer Linda Greenlaw, and Kevin Hancock, who was our literary lunch guest in April.

Admission to the book fair is free; tickets to ride the train are sold separately.

Library Writers’ Group

Are you interested in joining a writers’ group with which to share your work? Writers’ groups are a great way to find the feedback, camaraderie, and inspiration you need to keep on writing. Call or email the Library if you’d be interested in joining a group, and we’ll brainstorm possible dates and times.

Air Conditioning and Tech Support

As the days finally heat up, don’t forget that the Library is always a cool spot with comfy chairs, plenty of books, and WiFi. And if you haven’t been in yet to get the new CloudLibrary app installed on your Apple, Android, or Kindle Fire device, swing by! We also have a new printer in the great room that scans, faxes, and photocopies too—you can even print to it straight from your phone.
