Tue, 02/27/2024 - 9:15am

Nomination papers have been filed for three seats in Boothbay Harbor, according to Town Clerk Michelle Farnham. Two of the six seats up for election each have one nominee so far, and the school district is missing any candidates. The filing deadline is March 4.

Incumbent Kenneth Rayle has submitted papers for a selectboard seat. Howard Friant has filed papers for a seat on the Boothbay-Boothbay Harbor Cemetery District Board of Trustees. Nell Tharpe submitted papers for a seat on the Boothbay Region Water District. Farnham said there have been no nominations or submitted papers for an open seat on both the Community School District School Committee and Board of Trustees.

With less than a week until the filing deadline, nomination papers are available from the town clerk. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 and registered to vote in Boothbay Harbor. Voting will be held at the Boothbay Harbor Fire Station May 3 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Town meeting is at 9 a.m. May 4 at the fire station, where the officers will be sworn in.
