Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club

Boothbay Harbor Rotarians will hear from District Director Dave Underhill at our next meeting on August 17th, who will bring us the latest from around the District. On August 24th District leadership will help the club work through re-visioning and strategic planning, always a worthwhile exercise for everyone. The meeting will begin earlier on the 24th and an RSVP will be asked for.

An enthusiastic crowd enjoyed fabulous hors d'oeuvres and animated conversation at Thursday's regular meeting of the Rotary Club of Boothbay Harbor. The buzz in the air was all about the successful 60th Annual Auction, and the results were eagerly anticipated. We enjoyed a dinner of lasagna, salad and garlic bread with ice cream and brownie for dessert.

There were many generous "happy dollars" celebrating the success of the auction and the many Rotarians and non-Rotarians who volunteered. Michael Pollard thanked the volunteers who worked to make the Boutique section the best yet, and the many who hauled, lugged and transported everything to the auction site.

Auction co-chairs Margi Spratt and Henry Wyatt gave the auction report, noting that while the numbers are not yet final, this year's auction promises to top the steady growth of this important fundraiser. An article with results will be forthcoming. Kudos all around! They welcomed suggestions for improvements, but many noted that the auction this year ran especially smoothly.

Ham Meserve and President Tindal welcomed new member Bill Pearson, of the Boothbay Register. Bill, while relatively new to the area, is not new to Maine – raised in Corinna, Bill attended UMO and worked for newspapers in Ellsworth, Dover-Foxcroft, Newport and Calais. We are sure he will be an excellent new Rotarian – welcome Bill!
