Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club

The Commodore's reception is in the books for 2017 and we are off to a flying start. Commodore Scribner and his team welcomed over 200 members at the gala event last Saturday night and the gastronomical treats offered by Chef Billy and his team were fabulous.

The number of boats in the mooring field increases every day and our team of stewards, Ron McLaren, Paul Pinkham and Jim Stormont, are now on duty daily. Likewise Hristo has managed to find his way through bureaucratic delays and is now on duty in charge of the dining room activities.

Regular events to be placed in your weekly calendars are: Tuesday, Mahjong (0930), Beginners Bridge (1000) and Women’s sailing ( 1145) on Tuesdays. On Wednesdays Businessman's lunch (1200), Ladies lunch ( 1200), Mahjong ( 1300) and Racing (sail) at 1630. On Thursday there is Bridge (1300) and, of course, the weekly cocktail event. Friday is the Stitch group (1000) and Men's sailing(1145).  Monday, June 19,  the Junior program starts in full force directed once again by Chris Liberti.

Remember that the dining room is open on Mondays this year so you have two more options to consider.

This weekend we have a cruise rendezvous at Hodgdon Cove scheduled for 1200. Fleet captain Andy Mutch has the details if you need them.

On Sunday night we have the first in a very interesting speaker series  featuring Capt. Earl Walker speaking in his years as a harbor pilot in Portland and especially on the Kennebec River for Bath Iron Works. Reservations a must and the time is 1500.

Upcoming items to keep in mind include: June 20 Lunch with an Author which will have Nick Buck the time is 1130. On June 19, the first members teaching members will be held at 1700 followed by dinner. Treasurer Bob Reiser will be talking about a timely topic for many, "Can you afford your retirement." June 23,  author  Jonathan White will speak in the Authors series and on the 21 there will be a special Mahjong luncheon and event. Please contact Penny Matthews for reservations and details.

Lastly, also on the 21st, Fleet captain Andy Mutch has planned a cruise and  lunch gathering at Love's Cove off Ebenecook Harbor.

Edit your refrigerator stickies to include all of these events. And please get your groups together for Thursday night cocktail events to supply hors d’ouevres for the masses. See PC Louise Holmes for details of sign up on the neon clipboard near the past commodores plaque.
