Boothbay improves to 7-1

The Boothbay Region High School field hockey team edged Spruce Mountain, 3-2, Friday, Sept. 22 to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Sydney Meader scored two unassisted goals in the first half giving the Seahawks a 2-0 lead at half time. Boothbay then scored its third goal of the game 7 minutes into the second half when Chloe Arsenault crossed a bouncing ball to Sydney Meader who redirected it into the goal.

Spruce Mountain began its scoring at the 14:09 mark in the second half when Brooke Buote scored on a crossing ball from Adria Plourde.  Spruce Mountain's Emily Castonguay scored their second goal with 1:22 remaining in the game.

“We played a strong game against a tough Spruce Mountain team,” said BRHS Coach Donna Jordan in an email.

Boothbay is scheduled to play at home against Lisbon on Monday, Sept. 25 and against Dirigo on Sept. 27. Both games begin at 3:30 p.m.
