Boothbay lacrosse has won six straight games and is in seventh place in the Class C Heal point standings. The Seahawks added three more victories last week with two over Camden Hills and one against Oceanside.

Boothbay defeated the Windjammers once in Rockport and, again, in Boothbay Harbor. On May 16, the Seahawks defeated Camden Hills 20 -10 in Rockport.

Chloe Arsenault scored the Seahawks’ first three goals, and teammates Hannah Cola and JoAnna Shaw followed, giving Boothbay a 5-0 lead. Arsenault finished with four goals and one assist. Cola had three goals and one assist. Shaw had two goals. Other Seahawk goal scorers were Sydney Meader with nine, Jackie McLoon with one goal and one assist, and Emily Amaral had one goal.

“Camden set up their defense focusing on keeping Chloe out of the scoring area, but this opened up the lanes for Sydney Meader to score,” said Boothbay coach Donna Jordan.

Goalie Page Brown recorded 10 saves on 20 Windjammer shots.

On May 18, Oceanside was a tougher challenge, but Boothbay won 12-7 at Sherman Field. The Seahawks clung to a 6-5 halftime lead and expanded their advantage in the second half in securing a 12-7 victory. Once again, Meader was the top goal scorer with seven. Other Seahawk scorers were Cola with two goals and two assists, Arsenault with two goals and one assist, McLoon and Lexi Lane with one goal each. On defense, Brown made 10 saves on 17 Mariner shots.

Eighteen hours later, Boothbay had a rematch with Camden Hills. The Seahawks soared to a 12-3 halftime lead, and defeated the Windjammers, 15-4, at Sherman Field.  Boothbay led 6-3 and extended its lead by scoring six more in the first half’s final five minutes. In the second half, it was the team defense which closed out the Windjammers. The Seahawk defensive unit backing up goalie Brown consisting of Lilley Harris, Evy Case, Kylie Brown, Summer Chamberlin, Hali Goodwin and Shaw shined in the second half, allowing only one goal in the game’s final 25 minutes.

In goal, Brown stopped nine Windjammer shots on 13 attempts.

Boothbay scorers were Meader with five goals and two assists, Chloe Arsenault with three goals and two assists, Jackie McLoon with two goals and one assist, and Cortney Meader and Shaw with one each. Boothbay is 7-1 and in sixth place in Class C schoolgirl standings. The Seahawks' next game is on May 23 against Mount Ararat (1-8) in Topsham.
