Wednesday, Oct. 11, noon, BRGC Roundtable, St Columba's Church. Guest speaker will be Sue Mello, natural resources manager for the Boothbay Region Water District who will talk about local efforts to protect the 200 million gallons of drinking water used each year in our region. She will focus on our watershed, lakes, streams and rivers and will offer recommendations on the use of pesticides and fertilizers. She will also address the topic of erosion control with ground materials, plants, etc. Brief Q and A to follow.

Wednesday, Oct. 11, 1 p.m., BRGC General Meeting, St. Columba's Church. Flower Design for this month will be Fall Fantasies. All are encouraged to dip into the beautiful colors of fall to create a symmetrical centerpiece. Please bring along your unloved and unused items for this month's annual White Elephant sale. There will be tables for $1, $3, and $5 items as well as tables for higher end pieces. Items that remain after the sale will go to the FOT or be donated to local thrift shops.

Don't miss this fun opportunity to find wonderful treasures to fill the empty spaces created by your donations!

Pine Cone reminder: Thanks to Patti Calhoun's efforts, we are nearing our quota for “cooked” pine cones, but we can always use your help in collecting more pine cones for the wreaths we hang throughout our community. Remember:  cover a cookie sheet with foil, place a layer of cones, and bake at 250 degrees for a couple of hours. Be sure the cones open to full size. Please bring to the October meeting and give to Becky Singer or Pat McMurry. A workshop will follow to wire the cones at a later date.
