Boothbay Region Lions Club

Tue, 10/03/2017 - 10:15am

Twenty-one Lions met at the clubhouse Sept. 25 for a great meal made by our own members and a night of fellowship. Things are in full swing for the new year with plans made for selling Lion Jay’s Famous Fish Chowder at the Fall Foliage Fair and the Twelve Days of Christmas Calendar. Please visit our booth at the Fair — all proceeds go to local charities. We’ll be there on Sunday as well selling hot dogs and sweet treats. Come chat with us about becoming a Lion — Just ask!

Our guest speaker of the night was Cody Mitchell, station manager from BRCTV. Cody spoke how he became involved with Channel 7 and his plans for continuing our local access channel. BRCTV is a non-profit 501 (c))(3) PEG station. One of Cody’s goals is to get as many as possible involved with the station, whether it be filming or hosting a talk show. BRCTV is currently off air due to some technical equipment issues but hopes to be back on soon. Cody urged the Lions to spread the word as they work on renovating their space at the YMCA. We look forward to Cody’s innovative ideas for the future of BRCTV.

Remember the Lions will take your used eyeglasses. Drop them off in our box in the hall at the small mall.

In keeping with our motto, “We Serve,” we donated monies to the annual Maine Medical Center fund and to BRCTV.

As usual our Tail Twister Lion Tom found a number of reasons to fine members: Lion Jay who is sharpening his knives to prep the fish chowder — change the name to “Finger Food?” Lion Roy was fined for having his “top” down. Lion Duane was fined for no mayo for the hot dogs. Lion Omer was fined for standing up for dinner before the head table – however, the Tail Twister offered to defer the fine if Lion Connie would make biscuits for the next meal – she agreed. The driver/owner of a 1958 Chevy was fined — Lion Glenn. Lion Tom T. was fined for illegal parking in front of the appetizer table!

Come join us! Next meeting is Oct. 11 at 6:15 p.m.
