Brenda Bettinson to receive lifetime achievement award

Boothbay resident Brenda Bettinson has just been informed by the Marquis Who’s Who Publications Board that she has been selected to receive the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Board’s communication informed Brenda that she is among the first to receive this award, which celebrates her professional accomplishments and longevity as a Marquis biographee. The citation states “this honor is reserved for Marquis Biographees who have achieved career longevity and demonstrated unwavering excellence in their chosen fields.”

Brenda Bettinson’s chosen fields are fine art and art history. Her powerful and expressive paintings have been exhibited widely, both in Europe and the U.S. and are housed in both private and public collections. The rank of Professor Emeritus of Art was bestowed upon her by Pace University, New York when she retired after teaching there for 27 years.

Since 1989 she has lived year-round on Barter’s Island where she continues to work consistently in her studio.
