This serves as a public notice required by the by-laws of the Boothbay Region Fish & Game Association.  

The Boothbay Region Fish & Game Association will hold its regular February meeting at a special date and time. Due to the upcoming Kids’ Ice Fishing Derby to be held on Wiley Pond the Membership voted last month to hold this months’ meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m., prior to the derby. This will allow the club to better discuss the event and shore up any loose ends regarding event logistics. Meetings are usually held the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. and will return to such schedule starting in March. All meetings are held in the clubhouse located at 447 Dover Road, Boothbay.

Kids’ Ice Fishing Derby 

Saturday, Feb. 17, the BRF&GA will hold its Annual “Ice is Nice” Kids’ Ice Fishing Derby from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with prizes awarded for the three biggest brook trout caught through the ice, at the close of the contest. The event will take place on Wiley Pond which is accessible via the BRF&GA access road located at 447 Dover Road, Boothbay. This is a public event and families are welcome to drive up into our compound. The entrance to the property is located 2/10ths of a mile up the Dover Road from the intersection at Adams Pond Road. The entrance will be on your left.   

Food and beverages will be available at the Fish & Game Clubhouse, which is located right next to Wiley Pond.   

The contest is open to all kids under the age of 16. There is a two line limit for each contestant either line or trap. Artificial lures or worms can only be used. No bait fish alive or dead per IF&W regulations. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded at the end of the derby in the clubhouse. 1st Place $100, 2nd Place $50, and 3rd Place $25. Raffle prizes will also be awarded to all kids who remain after the end of the contest.
