The Seahawks track and field teams added a few more state championship qualifiers at their Lisbon High School meet on Monday, May 14. Boys and girls faced off against Brunswick, Cony, Skowhegan Area,  Morse, Hall-Dale, Dirigo and Lisbon high schools.

“It was quite the competitive meet,” said Coach Nick Scott. “And there were a lot of quality performances.”

Graham Harris, Will Perkins, Blake Erhard and Kyle Ames made up the boys’ 400m and 800m relay teams placing third and second, respectively. The girls’ 400m relay team – Reagan Cola, Marissa Peters, Olivia Paolillo and Hannah Cola – placed fourth and the 100m team – Zada Smith, Riley Sullivan, Marissa Peters and Hannah Cola – placed fifth.

Reagan Cola joined the All Seahawks Top 10 list as fourth all time best for the 400-meter dash. Scott said her 1:03 run makes her the top seed for the MVC and gives her the third best time in Class C. Cola also placed third in the 200m dash and seventh in javelin. Olivia Paolillo placed third in both 100m and 300m hurdles with a new personal record for the 100m hurdles, placing her in eighth on the All Seahawks list.

Connor Demmons and Sam Burnham placed third and seventh, respectively, in discus. Burnham placed fourth in javelin and sixth in race walking. Demmons placed seventh in shot put. Jay Hasch and Quinn Ranta placed second and seventh, respectively, in the triple jump. Hasch and Will Perkins placed third and fifth in the high jump.

Zada Smith placed seventh in the 100m hurdles. Hannah Cola, Will Perkins and Blake Erhard are the latest Seahawks qualifying for state championships: Cola placed first in the long jump, Perkins placed tenth in the 800m run, and Blake Erhard placed fifth in the 400m dash.

“While Will didn't score (points) in the 800m – which was the most competitive regular season 800m I've seen – his time of 2:12 was a personal record and qualified him for states … (and) Blake Erhard ran the open 400m for the first time,” said Scott.

The Seahawks teams meet next at the Cony Invitational in Augusta at 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 18.
