Brown leads MVC in scoring, rebounding

Boothbay Region High School junior Page Brown had another outstanding regular season for the Seahawks girls varsity basketball team, leading the Mountain Valley Conference in scoring and rebounding, according to stats supplied by several school coaches.

Brown scored 403 points in 18 games this season for a 22.39 ppg. average. She had 163 rebounds for a 9.06 rpg. average.

Second to Brown in MVC scoring this season was Ashley Russell of Madison (285 points, 15.83 ppg.). Another Madison player, Lauren Hay, finished behind Brown in rebounding. She hauled down 157 rebounds (8.72 rpg.). Hay also led the MVC in blocked shots with 45.

Monmouth's Tia Day led the MVC in assists (5.22 apg.), three-pointers (44, 2.44 pg.) and free throw percentage (42-50, 84 percent). Boothbay's Kate Friant was second in assists with 84 (4.67).

Boothbay's Faith Blethen, who played in only 13 games due to injury, finished third in several categories: 14.54 ppg. (189), blocked shots (23), three-pointers (20) and free throws (17-22). Blethen finished second in steals with 55, behind Lisbon's Giana Russo, who had 86.

Monmouth led the league in team offense with 55.44 ppg. while Boothbay finished a close second with 53.50 ppg. Madison was third at 52.50 ppg.

Boothbay led the league in team defense, allowing just 28.28 ppg. and Monmouth was second allowing just 32.78 ppg.
