Call to artists for ‘Artists’ Choice’ exhibition

River Arts in Damariscotta, is inviting artists to submit work for its upcoming “Artists’ Choice” exhibition. Submissions in any media, sculpture and fine crafts are welcome. Work can be submitted during gallery hours by 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21.

The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. The exhibition will hang until March 26.

Artists can enter up to three works for jurying. Entry fees are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. All work entered must be for sale. The maximum size for wall-hung work is 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width. With safety in mind, plexiglass or other non-glass options should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels.

Native Mainer Robert Colburn is the juror for this exhibition. Colburn is curator and manager of the Bayview Galleries in Brunswick and Camden. In addition to his busy career, he is an active painter, exhibiting at Asymmetrick Arts, Cape Cottage Gallery, the Clown, Bayview Galleries and other locations.

Colburn describes his present artistic philosophy as a mixture inspired by both old and contemporary masters. In his own work, he values working on site, painting works and creating studies for paintings in the natural world. For more on Colburn, visit www.robertcolburn.com.

River Arts is located at 241 U.S. Route 1 in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
