The State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the fire which destroyed an unoccupied camper and attached out building on West Side Road, Barters Island, Boothbay on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Boothbay Fire Chief David Pratt said Monday the first firefighter was on scene three minutes after the call came in and the camper was fully engulfed in flames.

“At this point, it was surround and drown,” said Pratt.

Fighting the fire was difficult, said Pratt, due to the slippery road conditions and cold weather during the “mini blizzard we had that day.”

Pratt said Boothbay Harbor, Southport and Edgecomb fire departments also responded to fight the fire.
