A small catamaran capsized in strong winds off Holbrook Ledge in Linekin Bay Monday afternoon, Aug. 3 around 3 p.m.

The Boothbay Fire Department, Boothbay Harbor Harbor Master, U.S. Coast Guard and a couple of boaters responded to the scene and everyone was safe and out of the water, according to Boothbay Harbor Police Chief Robert Hasch, who responded to the scene in another boat operated by Sewall Maddocks. The catamaran was towed toward Bayville where it was more sheltered from the wind by a boater in a Boston Whaler, and the catamaran was righted.

UPDATE: Hasch said later on Monday that two people were aboard the catamaran when it capsized.
