Catherine Ogg, 86, died peacefully Feb. 22, 2018, at Tore’s Home in Brevard, North Carolina where she moved after a long life in Boothbay, Edgecomb, North Windham, and Portland, Maine; St. Croix in the Virgin Islands; and Dunnellon, Florida.

Born in Detroit in 1931, “Kit,” as she was known, moved with her family to Elmira, New York when her father became president of American LaFrance, a large scale producer of fire engines. Her family purchased a farm in Asheville, North Carolina, where she attended St. Genevieve of the Pines. During her summers on the farm she developed lifelong interests in horseback riding, farming and fishing.

In the early 1950s she moved to Boothbay Harbor and married Daniel B. Zamore. The couple bought an old farmhouse on the Back River Road where they raised four children. After the couple divorced, she married Robert Ogg and moved with him first to Edgecomb and later to North Windham, Maine, near to Danforth, Inc., the marine hardware business he ran.

While in Windham, Kit was a founding member of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church. After their marriage ended, Kit moved to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands where she worked for many years in a real estate development firm. In the 1990s, she met Peter Coe through Boothbay friends and the two retired together to Dunnellon.

In her eighties, she moved back to North Carolina and took great pleasure in watching her granddaughter take up horseback riding and raising Nigerian dwarf goats.

Kit had a flair for decorating and an eye for antiques. A longtime subscriber, she took great delight in reading the Boothbay Register.

She was predeceased by two infant children, Peter Coe of Damariscotta, Maine, and her son-in-law Fred Perry of Fairview, North Carolina.

She is survived by her four children: Christopher Zamore and his wife Elizabeth of Belmont, Massachusetts, D. Benton Zamore and his wife Linda of Winchester, Virginia, Anne Ogg Perry of Fairview, North Carolina, and Thomas Ogg of Southport Island, Maine. Benjamin Zamore, Allegra Zamore, and Maria Perry Ogg remember her affectionately as “Granny Kit.”

A memorial service will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Asheville, North Carolina, April 7, 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Asheville http://stlukesavl.org.
