Maine Independent gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler made several stops at Midcoast businesses on Saturday, Oct. 25, including one in Boothbay Harbor and one in Boothbay.

Joined and escorted by Boothbay Town Manager Jim Chaousis, Cutler and four members of his campaign staff arrived at Eventide Specialties in Boothbay Harbor at 3 p.m.

Outside the business on Boothbay House Hill Road, Cutler spoke with Mary and Vernon Rail of Southport on his plans to boost Maine's economy and tourism, as well as such topics as local healthcare and business development.

Inside the store, Cutler asked Eventide owner Kim Martin about her business and he spoke Kim's mother, Mim, and other employees.

After a quick visit with the Underhound Railroad group that had set up a display across the road on Boothbay House Hill, Cutler and others made their way to the Boothbay Craft Brewery and Watershed Tavern on Adams Pond Road in Boothbay.

Cutler was greeted by Brewery owner Win Mitchell and the candidate listened carefully and asked questions as Mitchell told him about how he started the business and how it has grown in three years.

Cutler then went into the tavern where he was introduced to Win's mother, Tancy, who was working as the tavern host.

Cutler then tried a sample of one of the beers produced by the brewery. He left around 4:15 for a 6 p.m. meet and greet in South Thomaston. He was not driving.
