Farmyard Numbers, the new board book written and illustrated by beloved Maine children's author Dahlov Ipcar of Georgetown, begins with one of Ipcar’s favorite animals, “ONE cat, out all night, walks home down the road in the morning light.” Ipcar will sign copies at the book signing Thursday, Nov. 20 at Mid Coast Hospital, from 10 am to noon.

Published by Islandport Press in Yarmouth, the new book is hot off the press and the fourth in the series for toddlers and young children, all of which will be on sale at the 7th annual book signing at the hospital, 123 Medical Center Drive, sponsored by the Auxiliary. No. 2 in the book is about another favorite animal, “TWO horses in the orchard graze through the long, warm summer days.” Numbers 3-10 have similar appropriate verses.

Also featured will be the new 2015 cat poster calendar, “Ipcar’s Cats,” published by Islandport with the 12 months illustrations from Ipcar’s 30 or more books for children, all suitable for framing as well as the cover.

Also new: “The Wonderful Egg” from 1958 and “I Like Animals” from 1960, published by a London company under Flying Eye Books. If published in time for the book signing, “Deep Sea Farm” from Down East Books will also be on sale. Book prices range from $10.95 to $19.95 and the calendar is $25.

Proceeds from the book sale benefit Auxiliary projects at the hospital, including health career scholarships and the upgraded Maternity infant security system. For more information, please call the MCH Volunteer Office, 207-373-6015.
