Damariscotta-Newcastle Twin Villages ArtWalk this Friday

Wed, 07/15/2015 - 8:00am

The third year of the Damariscotta-Newcastle Art Walk continues on Friday, July 17. From 4-7 p.m., local galleries, studios, craft stores, restaurants and more keep their doors open for shopping and browsing. Some venues will offer music, others light snacks and drinks, and some will have both. Look for the yellow flags that denote an ArtWalk participant.

Among the 22 locations open this year new participants include The Lincoln Home, who will host a guest artist for each walk; and Deborah Schaefer, both on River Road and accessible by personal vehicle or the free trolley. New to the downtown area for the event are Aboca Beads, Attic Heirlooms and Milling Around.

Additional participants are Schooner Landing, River Gallery Fine Art, Newcastle Square Realty, Pemaquid Watershed Association, Gifts at 136, Damariscotta River Grille, Legacy Properties, Savory Maine, Stable Gallery, The Firehouse Center for Falcon Foundation, Maurice Jake Day Maine Art Prints, Kefauver Studio & Gallery, Jan Kilburn Gallery, Sinclair Gallery, Kathleen Horst, Rising Tide Community Market and River Arts Gallery.

A free trolley is available for attendees that covers all areas of the ArtWalk with new sign-age to assist users. The downtown trolley stop is at corner of Theater and Main streets. The trolley will loop throughout the venues in 20-30 minute increments.

There are colorful poster/maps in stores throughout the Twin Villages of Damariscotta-Newcastle, and brochures with smaller maps and listings of participants, including contact information, quick reference.

The Damariscotta-Newcastle Art Walk is a free, self-guided event to be held on the third Friday on the month June-October. Additional information can be found on the ArtWalk Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TwinVillagesArtWalk.
