Lincoln County Democrats have invited all announced Democratic Maine gubernatorial candidates to join them at their August family cookout and lobster bake Aug. 13 in Waldoboro, and a number have accepted.

Now scheduled to appear at the event are former Maine House Speaker Mark Eves of North Berwick, progressive lobbyist Betsy Sweet of Hallowell, and former state senator Jim Boyle of Gorham. Local party leaders also will be part of the event, helping to lead discussions on how to rally Democrats over the coming year and to make things better in Maine.

The event will be held Aug. 13 at Cider Hill Farm on West Main Street (no. 785) in Waldoboro, with the traditional raw oyster bar opening at noon and lobster or hot dog dinners served at 1 p.m., catered by Jeff Hurd of The Narrows Tavern.

Cost of the meals will be $35 for a complete lobster dinner, with mussels, corn, potato salad, coleslaw, watermelon and a soft drink; $15 for two hot dogs with the same sides; or a $10 child’s meal of one hot dog plus the sides.

Families are invited to bring children to take advantage of the facilities and activities at Cider Hill Farm. Also on the schedule is a “Treat for Two” raffle of dinner for two at the Turner Farm on North Haven on Aug. 24, including a round-trip boat ride from Rockland, a quilt raffle, and a mini auction.

Attendees are invited to help the LC Dems by volunteering to be a host or sponsor. The options are $100 to be on the host committee, or a sponsor at either the $250 or the $500 level. Host committee members get one dinner, sponsors two dinners.
