Democratic headquarters on election night

It was a long night for Democrats at the Lincoln County Headquarters in Damariscotta.

The evening started on a high note, with Mick Devin, D - Newcastle, reading aloud Newcastle’s vote tally, which reflected big wins for the Democrats. But those early cheers were some of the few of the evening, as town and national reports came in.

As tallies mounted, Devin was the only local Democrat assured re-election. By 12:30 a.m, all town votes were in for the House District 90 race. Devin defeated Republican challenger Robin Mayer of Damariscotta 3,335 to 2,304.

At 12:30 a.m., with 17 of 21 towns reporting, Sen. Chris Johnson, D-Somerville, was trailing Republican challenger Dana Dow of Waldoboro 9,223 to 9895. By 6 a.m., the results were clear. With only Hibberts Gore and military absentee votes still out, Dow defeated Johnson 12,107 to 10,758.
