The Rocktide Inn was packed like sardines for the second annual Fishin’ for Fashion show on Saturday, Sept. 12, the final event for Harbor Fest. Designers upped their game this year, using fishing gear in new and creative ways to design the perfect outfit.

Twelve original designs walked the runway, along with nine merchant outfits, available for purchase locally. Along with these 21 expected models, there was a brief surprise debut of Rusty Court, who designed a quick lobstering outfit for the occasion, but was quickly shunted off the runway to uproarious laughter.

Winner of the show was the design modeled by Olivia Paolillo and made by Lorna and Summer Andrews, representing Benedict/Andrews Interior Designs in Woolwich. Second place went to Roberta Hurlburt for Drift on Island, modeled by Nina Babbitt. People's Choice winner was returning Fishin' for Fashion Champion Team Calypso and Boothbay Harbor Framers’ design team of Susan Brackett, Lindy Bragg, Carrie Langlois, Pandy Dickinson and Margaret Tew, modeled by Kathleen Sheehan.

The show began a bit after 2 p.m. with Captains Rusty Court and George McEvoy bringing the models in from the Boothbay Harbor Inn by boat after a quick turn around the harbor.

Original designs in addition to the winners were Sierra Murray for designer Paulette Carter, who represented the Carousel Music Theater; Jackie Cola for designer Regan Cola; Susan DeTroy for designer Christine DeTroy; Mariah Foss for designer Roxi Suger from Angelrox Designs; Angie Perkins for Master Seamstress Gate Ferrante; Anya Arsenault for designers Jesscia Pinkham; and Aileen Rojo representing A Silver Lining; Della Hahn for Team Della!; Catherine Tracy for Sandra Barry; and Andrea and Adele Bielli of Slicks Boutique, who both modeled and designed their “warrior” outfits.

The Bielli sisters started the show, and has a design unlike any other on the runway.

“We're designers, we've done dresses, we wanted to do something different,” Adele Bielli said. “And those helmets we had on ... we just kept adding more and more shells to it and they were so heavy on our heads we had to add a neck brace to stabilize.”

The Biellis wished to thank Grover's Hardware for the donation of glue and The Lobster Dock for donations of shells.

Merchant models included Jaime Beal and Judith Westlake for Calypso Clothing; Hannah Cola for The Loft; Colin, Sarah and Sadie Yentsch for House of Logan and The Village Store; Riley Sullivan for Gretchen's Closet; Anna Baum, Marnie Mitchell, Debbie Watson and Tricia Warren for Slick's Boutique; Carrie Langlois and Chelsea Bragg for Boothbay Harbor Framers; ReAnna Heino and Summer Chamberlin for Sadie Greens; Leslie and Brian Blethen for Janson's Clothing; and Liana, Max and Auggie Kingsbury for Two Salty Dogs.

It was easy to tell where the Two Salty Dogs team was on the runway as Max and Auggie, who are both black labs, generated lots of “awws” for everyone who saw them in their outfits.

The show was coordinated by Lori Reynolds and Dana Paolillo. Model wrangler was Sarah Wilcox Logan, who kept the show on track. Music and DJing was done by Calvin Crocker, who didn't miss a single cue for the models, each of whom had their own music. The lobster trap stage was donated by the Simmons family, wine was donated by Central Distributors, and beer from the Boothbay Craft Brewery.
