John Seitzer has joined Rocktide’s new “Paint & Pour” painting classes as one of the featured local artists.

Seitzer works in oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel, painting his impression of the play of light on, or reflected from an object.

An award-winning artist and educator, Seitzer has an eclectic range of styles from realism to post-impressionism to abstraction. He holds a double art major: a bachelor of fine arts in painting and ceramics as well as a bachelor’s degree in art education. As an educator, Seitzer taught elementary through university level students, presented several art residencies and lectured in England.

Sietzer, and his wife Lynne, also an artist, own Joy to the Wind Gallery, located across the street from the Rocktide. For more on the Seitzers, visit www.joytothewind.com.

He will facilitate creating a colorful painting on Thursdays: Thursday, July 31, August 7, 14, and 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. Class size is limited to 10 students. All materials are provided. Sign up soon to reserve your spot by calling Rocktide at 207-633-4455. Check out the “Paint & Pour” photos on Rocktide's Facebook page. Private paint parties are also welcome.

Rocktide started “Paint & Pour — on the Rocks,” in June and the event has drawn a fantastic turnout. It's a fun, new craze that includes painting your own masterpiece with the instruction of a talented local artist, while enjoying a complimentary beverage of choice, a glass of wine, or beer or cocktail. You need not be artistically inclined; these classes are for everyone with the main focus on having fun.

The classes take place at Rocktide, 35 Atlantic Avenue in Boothbay Harbor.
