Edgecomb couple gives back

Gail and Tom Boudin of Edgecomb want to do all they can for a charity that helped their family when the Boudins’ granddaughter was getting medical treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital.

The Paul O’Neil Foundation helped pay the family’s hotel, gas and some other costs not covered by insurance, Gail Boudin said.

“It was such an incredible help, at a very difficult time. They’re a wonderful organization,” she said. “And we are just so very grateful for their help.”

Now the couple wants to help the North Berwick-based foundation keep doing the same for other families, she said.

The two were in Wiscasset on July 12, selling tickets outside Ames True Value for an August raffle of theme baskets. Ticket sales benefit the foundation, Gail Boudin said.

Sales went well on Saturday, she said on July 14. “People have been very generous.”

She was also preparing for another fundraiser for the foundation, a supper at Edgecomb Congregational Church on Cross Point Road, this Saturday, July 19, at 5 p.m. Her husband will be on dishwashing duty at the event; she and the couple’s daughter Abigail Boudin will be helping with cooking and serving; among other family members taking part will be Abigail Boudin’s son Henry Boudin, who will be serving lemonade and iced tea, his grandmother said.

The Boudins’ granddaughter who was ill last summer is now doing very well, Gail Boudin said.

The Boudin family donated the gift baskets for the raffle to benefit the foundation. The baskets’ themes are “Lobster Feast,” “Coffee Lover’s,” “Tea Lover’s,” “Candy Lover’s” and “A Day at the Beach,” Boudin said.

Tickets will be on sale at Saturday’s supper and at the five-mile yard sale on Cross Point Road in Edgecomb on August 9, Boudin said. Or call her about tickets, at 207-380-7452.
