Savory Maine Dining and Provisions in Damariscotta is pleased to exhibit the paintings of Nobleboro artist Elizabeth S. Palmer from Oct. 22 through November. The public is invited to a reception for her on Friday, Oct. 30 from 3-5 p.m. Savory Maine will provide delectable sweet and savory finger foods, and wine will be available.

The exhibit will showcase her development as an artist, beginning with early works in oils, and progressing to the very detailed watercolors which she does today. Palmer's subject matter is primarily, but not exclusively, scenes of Midcoast Maine.

Palmer expresses her love of color and light, by creating paintings that vibrate and dance, with the goal of elevating ordinary subject matter into the realm of the extraordinary.

She wants to lead each viewer toward the discovery of the natural world and in man-made objects, also using color to soothe, excite and heal (among other sensations and emotions) to lead the sensitive viewer into a different dimension.

For the last 35 years, the artist has spent much of her time in the home she built in Nobleboro, painting, gardening, kayaking, and immersing herself in local Maine life. A New Hampshire resident before retiring, Palmer did her graduate work in art at the University of New Hampshire in '94.

Palmer is an active member of River Arts in Damariscotta and the Boothbay Region Art Foundation (BRAF) where she regularly enters juried shows. In 2013 and 2014 she had two paintings accepted into BRAF's "Best in ME" show. In 2013 she won an Honorable Mention.

Palmer has paintings in private collections across the country; in the permanent collection at the Children's Hospital in Boston. She has exhibited at the Damariscotta River Grill, Skidompha Public Library, the Pemaquid Watershed Association, and Miles Memorial Hospital.

Her recent “Paris Tables,” appears in the October 2015 issue of "Maine Homes & Design."

Elizabeth Palmer is represented by Ingram Antiques and Fine Art Gallery in Wiscasset. Thirty of her paintings can be viewed on its website, www.ingramantiques.com/.
