Enough of Trump

Mon, 12/18/2017 - 3:45pm

Dear Editor:

Enough is enough! I just watched the testimony of three ladies accusing the president of sexual impropriety. While certainly not the first president to succumb to such behavior, it is one more proof that he is unfit for the office he holds. There are others.

What concerns me even more is his destruction of our governmental system. Most of the cabinet heads have taken stands against the agencies they now supposedly head, and as such, will either downsize them or shut them down. Do we want to be without environmental protection or public education, to name a couple? He really seems to think we can run the country the same way he ran his real estate/building business, with himself as the sole authority. If he was the most qualified person in the world (which he isn’t), that is impossible. It’s too large and too complicated. Even scarier are his attacks on the State Department and the FBI. We’ve all had our issues with government but do we want to do without it?

Add to this his snubbing of our European allies, especially Germany and England, his friendships with dictators, his rejection of the Paris agreement after every other country accepted it, his clumsy attempts to shift blame for everything to other people, notably Hillary Clinton, who lost in spite of winning the popular vote. When you add it all up, there is a perfect storm of reasons why this man should not get within a mile of the White House, let alone be in it. Can we survive another four years of this? Even his own daughter has come out against him in his support of Roy Moore.

The tax bill is now being pushed through Congress. “Our great big Christmas present” will do little to help and it will ultimately hurt most of us. If “trickle down economics” works this time, it will be the first time it has.

As Jesus said, “My kingdom is not this world.” Thankfully, it isn’t. As we celebrate his birth, at least we can concentrate on what is most important: faith, family and public good.
