Eva McDermott’s “Art in Photography” will be on display at The First, N.A. Bank in Boothbay Harbor from June 6 through the end of July.

The exhibit will feature black and white photographs of the Boothbay region, as well as seascapes and natural abstracts from various locations in the United States, Canada and Scotland.

McDermott’s ultimate goal as an artist is to capture those moments of dramatic, ethereal light and the sense of wonder and emotion they evoke. With both film and digital cameras, she uses mainly in-camera techniques with minimal post processing adjustments to achieve her desired results.

Currently, the artist lives in Atkinson, New Hampshire, with her family. McDermott has enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Boothbay for over 30 years. Her favorite places to photograph in the Boothbay area are Ocean Point and Ovens Mouth land preserve.

As a member of the Boothbay Region Art Foundation, she regularly exhibits her work there during the summer months. Her photographs have been selected for the Maine Photography Show several years in a row; in 2013, her abstract of bubbles under ice, “Celestial” won third place in the black and white category.

McDermott has exhibited her work at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Southport Memorial Library, Atkinson Library and at the Art at the Waterfront Park event in Boothbay Harbor. She is also one of the gallery moderators on Nature Photographers Online Magazine, www.naturephotographers.net.
