'Faces and Figures' exhibition submissions being accepted

River Arts invites artists to submit work for its upcoming “Faces and Figures” exhibition, opening Friday, Feb. 20 running through March 26.

Submissions of figurative art in any media, depicting form or faces of humans or animals is being sought. Sculpture and fine crafts welcome.

Artists can enter up to 3 works for jurying. Entry fees are $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Wall-hung work size maximum: 60 inches in height, 42 inches in width. For safety reasons, plexiglass or another non-glass option should be used for work over 34 inches, excluding pastels. All work entered must be for sale.

The entry form is available on the website at www.riverartsme.org and at the gallery.

Work can be dropped off anytime during gallery hours up until Saturday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. The opening reception is scheduled for Feb. 20 from 5-7 p.m.

Artist and art educator John Lorence will be the juror for the exhibition.

Lorence has been the recipient of fellowships at YADDO, the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, and the McDowell Colony. He has exhibited both his paintings and sculpture extensively in solo and group exhibitions in Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S. as part of the Art-in Embassy program. Lorence’s professional interests include painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, art history, conservation and archeology as well as short films.
