A five-game winning streak has propelled the Boothbay Region High School girls lacrosse team into fourth place in the Class B North standings. The Seahawks won their ninth game Monday defeating Lawrence, 16-3, at Sherman Field. Boothbay scored 88 seconds into the game on an Evy Case goal with an assist from Sydney Meader. Boothbay never trailed in defeating Lawrence for the second time this season.

Other Seahawk scorers were Friant and Hamblett with three each. Friant and Case had two assists and JoAnna Shaw had one.

On May 26, Boothbay continued its winning ways, defeating Erskine Academy, 10-3, in South China. As the regular season winds down, Coach Donna Jordan said the games are becoming more competitive.

“This was a physical game with tourney points on the line with teams jockeying for final spots in the standings,” she said. “Boothbay did a great job offensively with several players sharing scoring opportunities in a very balanced offensive attack.”

Meader led the team with three goals and had one assist. Friant and Hamblett had two goals each and Jackie McLoon, Alexis Davison and Arsenault each had a goal. Brown made 11 saves in the goal.

Boothbay was scheduled to play its final regular season game on Wednesday at Winslow. Boothbay leads Cony and Freeport by two points to earn fourth place in the standings and a home playoff game.
