Free lake protection workshop

Fri, 07/07/2017 - 8:45am

Join Midcoast Conservancy and Pemaquid Watershed Association to learn how to protect the health and beauty of your favorite lake at a free LakeSmart Workshop on July 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 36 Water Street, Wiscasset. Participants in this free, full-day workshop will take away the tools to actively prevent water quality damage by sharing lake-friendly landscaping techniques with friends and neighbors.  Attendees learn about lake dynamics, the effects of development and common landscaping practices that protect lake health and preserve property value and wildlife habitat. A light breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and all materials are provided free of cost. Bring a brown bag lunch, wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather since the workshop includes class time and field work.

LakeSmart Training is free but participants must register for the workshop ahead of time. Contact Maggie Shannon at msshannon@mainelakessociety.org or 207-495-2301.
