The Boothbay Region Seahawks avenged a regular season loss at home to the Carrabec Cobras big time Wednesday night, as the 6th seeded Seahawks cruised to a 93-52 win at Porter Memorial over the 11th seeded Cobras and advanced to play the 3rd seeded Waynflete Flyers Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the Class C South tournament.

Run they did, as Coach I.J. Pinkham’s squad, now 14-5, scored several fast-break baskets in this tournament prelim game. Before they knew it, the Cobras were down 25 points at the half, 48-23. The lead grew to 30 points in the third quarter and the Seahawks could almost smell the popcorn being popped at the Augusta Civic Center.

Kyle Ames led all scorers with 22 points, including four three-pointers. Steve Reny followed with 18 points, Hunter Crocker added 17 and Cameron Crocker came off the bench and contributed 13 points.

The Cobras finished the season at 6-13. Their leading scorers were Evan Holzworth with 17, Nick Dube with 15 and Alex Stafford with 14.
