Marking’s Gallery presents the compelling and joyful sculptures of Bath resident, Gary B. Anderson. Designed for the garden, they are also at home indoors. Inspired by nature, they are direct, straightforward, and unapologetically vivid. Their manner of construction allows them to be partially kinetic, moving in the wind or rotated manually.  They refer to botanical observation, eliciting nature’s visual display without imitation. These pieces are also meditations on material, the working of wood and the exploration of process.

Anderson has a M.F.A. from Cornell University, College of Architecture Art And Planning.  He was awarded the Bernard Langlais Scholarship Award on Sculpture at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.  He has received numerous honors and grants:  Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Foundation Award, Bernard Osger Foundation Grant, Walter Hamaker Memorial Award,  C.C.P.A.  Grant Recipient Herbert F. Johnson Museum, Cornell University.

Gary B. Anderson will be present at Markings Gallery for the Bath Artwalk, June 15, 4-7 p.m. to talk about his sculptures with all who are interested.
