‘Gifts for Giving’ holiday event Nov. 20-23

Thirty-nine Boothbay region artists, artisans and authors gather at Studio 53

Art created by local artisans, crafters and authors will be available at Studio 53's annual holiday event, Gifts for Giving, Thursday, Nov. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 23.

A reception, with appetizers and adult beverages, will be held on Friday, Nov. 21 from 5-8 p.m.

Shop and be dazzled in a festive atmosphere three stories high. Maestro Aaron Robinson will play Baroque melodies on harpsichord up on the third floor during the Nov. 21 reception, 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday.

The artists and artisans in this year's holiday shopping showcase is like a who's who list of creative talent in the Boothbay region:

Participating are: Cilla Alden, Aaron Robinson, Dick Alden, Elise Andersen, Jill Butke, Donna Denniston, Lizzy Derecktor, Jesse DeShazo, Bob Devine, Barbie Eldred, Helen Farnham, Ann Hedgcock, Kathleen Jones, Don Josephson, Diana Kerr, Barbara Lally, Lou Landry, Dick Macdonald, Bob McKay, Dana Moses, Joe Norton, Sanny Norton, June and Bob Rose, Susie Stephenson, Leslie Volpe, Rhoda Weyr, George and Naomi Whitten, and new to the list is Alijah Fitt and his bottle cap art!

Take in the works of Studio 53's Artists' Collective: Heidi Seidelhuber, Terry Seaman, Paula Ragsdale, Cilla and Dick Alden, Lynne Seitzer, John Seitzer, Bob McKay and Donna Denniston.

Some of the artists and artisans will share their craft through live demonstrations.

Authors and book signings

Authors Lea Wait, Fred Kaplan, Peter Felsenthal and Betsy Wing comprise the authors participating in this event.

Felsenthal and Wing recently signed on for the event. Felsenthal will bring his new coffee table book, “New Growth — Portraits of Six Maine Organic Farmers,” and Wing will have her recently released novel, “Now History,” and an earlier work, “Look Out For Hydrophobia,” a collection of short stories and a novella set in Maine.

All books will be stacked and ready for autographing. Dates and times for each are as follows, but bear in mind all things are subject to change!

Wait: Friday, Nov. 21, 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 22 from 7-11 a.m. and Sunday, Nov. 23 from 1-2 p.m.

Kaplan: Thursday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, 5-8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 1-3 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 23, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Felsenthal: Thursday, Nov. 20, 2-4 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 21, 2-3 and 5-7 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 22, 10 a.m. to noon; Sunday, Nov. 23, 1-2 p.m.

Wing: Thursday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 21, 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 22, 9 a.m. To noon; Sunday, Nov. 23, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The dates and hours of Gifts for Giving are: Thursday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 21, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; opening reception 5 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 22 (Early Bird), 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 23, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
