God was in the house

    Dear Editor:

Thank you to everyone who came out to Boothbay Harbor UMC for Sunday’s "MARK 209" Gospel Concert.

Church doors were open wide! Music heard all over the neighborhood! People walking past the church towards downtown would slow down to listen for a moment. Some others stopped in after the concert started. Each of our Cooperative churches was represented and many community members turned out.

According to photos, over 90 people came to hear some great Gospel, moving testimony, and down-home Southern humor. A love offering was taken and much appreciated. It helps support Mark 209’s traveling Good News gospel ministry.

It was two hours blending contemporary gospel and traditional sacred hymns all in four-part harmony and congregational signing. Afterwards over 60 people came downstairs to the fellowship hall to share in a delicious potluck supper with Mark 209. Tables were rich with testimonies and great conversation. Quite a few people were there that we haven’t seen before.

Thanks to everyone who brought food to share. A very special heartfelt thanks also goes to all of the church ladies who did their special kind of magic in the kitchen.

Mark 209 will return next August, 2018.

It’s our hope that Mark 209 will be able to bring their famous “Christmas Concert” to the Boothbay Harbor Opera House.

    Thank you again. God bless.
