Maggie Griffin of Boothbay Harbor is pleased to announce the engagement of her daughter, Kara Marie Griffin, to Dustin Cyr, son of Alan and Dee Cyr of Hermon, Maine. Kara is the daughter of the late Dr. Carl R. Griffin Jr.

Kara graduated from Boothbay Region High School in 2001, and has a degree in mass communications from the University of Maine, Orono. She is an instructor and personal trainer at L.A. Training in Bangor. Dustin graduated from Hermon High School and is a professional chef at Novios in Bangor. He previously worked under Melissa Chaiken at New Moon and The Fiddlehead. They reside in Hermon.

A fall 2017 wedding is planned.
