There were cartoon characters, pirates, pilots, and goblins galore at the annual Halloween Parade in Boothbay Harbor Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31. Sponsored by the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library as part of its Harvest Fest, the event also featured entertainment, food and prizes for pumpkin painting before the parade started.

Children’s librarian Mary Pinkham, dressed as a bar of soap, led the paraders out of the library lot and down the Bath Savings driveway and the first stop for Halloween treats. Boothbay Harbor police directed traffic all along the parade route starting on McKown Street and ending at the United Methodist Church. The church also set up games, and offered food and entertainment for the children in its first Halloween “Hallowed Scene.”

Over 400 people took part in the parade as generous merchants, most of them wearing costumes for the event, handed out candy and other goodies.

Temperatures were in the high 40s, low 50s, humidity was low, but the excitement was again high as the parade continued for over an hour.
