Holly R. Sanborn

Mon, 11/13/2017 - 11:45am

Holly Rae Sanborn (Peachey) died Nov. 9, 2017 due to sudden complications from a long time illness.

She was born on Oct. 14, 1953 in Augusta, Maine the daughter of Sidney and Alice (West) Peachey. Holly graduated from Cony High School in 1971 and attended the University of Maine.  After marriage, Holly raised her family in Boothbay Harbor before moving back to Augusta.

As Holly’s disease progressed and her outer world became smaller, her inner world began to shine brighter. She greeted every face she saw with her beautiful smile and loving kindness. This was such a gift to all and she gave that gift freely even in her final hours.  Her disease took many things from her, but not her love for family, friends and music.  Holly had a beautiful high soprano voice and was a devoted member of the Green Street Methodist Church and its choir, First United Methodist Church of Boothbay Harbor, the Kennebec Performing Arts Choir and several others throughout the state.  Holly was always eager to share a few lines of her favorite songs.

She was pre-deceased by her mother and father, Sidney and Alice Peachey.

She is survived by her son, Jason Chick and wife Holly; her daughter, Corinne Vining and husband Dan; her sister, Penny McCarthy and husband Peter; her brother, Gary Peachey and wife Leah; grandchildren, Hayden and Harrison Chick and Asher Vining; niece, Laura Corriveau (McCarthy) and husband Brenton; nephews, Michael McCarthy, wife Kelly Doyle, and nephews Blake and Alec Peachey; great niece, Evelyn McCarthy; aunt, June Peachey; the father of her children, Elliott Chick.

Holly will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends and all of her wonderful doctors, nurses and caregivers at Glenridge Nursing Facility and The Gardiner Alzheimer’s Center, that gave her loving care and took such delight in her company.

There will be a private family burial at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, One Church Street, Augusta. Memories, condolences, photos, and videos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of our website at www.khrfuneralhomes.com
