Home and Garden Tour kudos

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Boothbay Region Garden Club, Pat and I would like to thank the many visitors who came to our area for the Home and Garden Tour on July 21. You make it possible for our club to continue offering scholarships, buying plants and wreaths in summer and winter for all our public buildings and parks, and aiding in our Garden Therapy program as well as other community endeavors.

The flip side of the tour involves over 100 volunteers: Club members, spouses, and friends working in all our homes and helping guests to park … we salute you. Thank you also to the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce for selling our tickets, The Flagship Hotel, The Boothbay Register and Channel 7 for gracious advertising, Kelly Farrin at the Carriage House, and chef Dennis at the Ocean Point Inn.

Big thanks to our homeowners who outdid themselves in preparation for this tour. Your efforts exceeded our expectations, and in doing so, brought wonderful smiles and comments from our 500 visitors. Participants this year were David Liland, Cathy Jacobs and David Plane on Southport, Anne Copeland and Jim Womack on Barters Island, Jeff and Barb Slayton, Betsy and Chris Betts, and Sue and Paul Taylor at Ocean Point.

Lastly, thank you to our chairs who worked tirelessly on every little piece of this tour: Hostesses, Sue Hochstein; Jim Singer, parking; Jane Lunt, program, and Leslie Cook, publicity. We try to ensure that our guests are safe, happy and even well fed, thank you Barb Widmayer.
