Carolyn Gabbe considers herself something of an American nomad who now calls Maine home. The Nobleboro artist will be exhibiting nearly thirty paintings in a solo show at Midcoast Conservancy in the historic Haggett Building on Water Street in Wiscasset. The show, “Home Is Where The Heart Is,” runs from Aug. 10-31 and consists of a series of contemporary representational paintings drawn mostly from Gabbe’s life in Maine.

Fine art was something Gabbe always dreamed of, but never expected to actually be doing. Ten years ago, she purchased her first painting supplies locally at Salt Bay Art Supply and was smitten. After a career in business and the independent sector, she is now a graduate of the internationally recognized Studio Incamminati founded by Nelson and Leona Shanks in Philadelphia and paints full time in her studio in Nobleboro. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, and the Portrait Society of America. Her work may also be found locally at Gleason Fine Art in Boothbay Harbor.

An opening reception for the show will be held on Aug. 10 from 5-8 p.m. The exhibition will be on view weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and by appointment by contacting Carolyn at carolyngabbeart@gmail.com.

There will be a closing reception, as part of the Wiscasset Art Walk, on Thursday, Aug. 31, from 5-8 p.m. For more information, contact Carolyn at 1-215-499-6268 or Midcoast Conservancy at 207-389-5150.
