The condition of a motorcyclist injured in an August 16 crash on Route 1 in Wiscasset has improved from critical to serious, a Maine Medical Center spokeswoman said Aug. 21.

Andrei Dambuleff, 21, of Frenchtown, New Jersey remains in the Portland hospital following the collision between the motorcycle he was on and a car that police said Paul Wells, 29, of Dresden was driving. The southbound, 1975 BMW motorcycle apparently crossed the center line and struck the northbound, 2003 Hyundai Accent, Wiscasset police have said. Wells was treated and released from a Damariscotta hospital.
