It comes down to the three ‘C’s’

    Dear Editor:

Our town: Spectacular.  It’s the one word I’ve been using to describe the sites and sounds of the Boothbay region over the past few weeks. Once again, this community has worn its pride on its sleeve for the many visitors coming to the peninsula during Boothbay Festival of Lights and Gardens Aglow. The holiday spirit can be felt everywhere you turn.  Thank you to everyone for being a part of this special time of year.

Thanksgiving is a holiday to reflect upon what is special to us, no matter how big or small, things that we are grateful for in our lives. It is the perfect beginning to the holiday season - a time to be thankful and enjoy what we are so blessed to have.

In these times of difference, peace and harmony is what I look forward to - both present and future. Living on this peninsula often presents itself with many of these qualities of life, but it still takes the three “C’s”: communication, collaboration, and community. We must communicate with one another on our issues and topics that challenge us; collaborate with respect to differing points of view and come to alternative solutions while working together using our many resources; and community - what a great sense we have already, watching neighbors helping neighbors throughout the year here on the Boothbay region peninsula.

The town has come alive with the holiday spirit, lights twinkling and music humming: let’s carry this joyous spirit throughout the season. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone for Harbor Lights, and the many other events and festivities throughout this holiday season right here in the Boothbay region. For it is a season that reminds me how very fortunate I am to call this place my home and I look forward to welcoming in 2018 and what the future may hold.
