Maine native Kevin Lyons is the July Artist of the Month at the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library.

Lyons' interest in photography started when he was a young boy living in Auburn. He and his family lived on Goff Hill, which afforded them a “bird’s eye” view of the twin cities and all the activity therein. When there was a fire, his mom, dad and Kevin would hop in the car to chase the fire trucks and then take photos of the blaze when they arrived on the scene.

His love for photography grew and changed with the shift in technology, which he embraced. Today, Lyons makes his home in Livermore Falls. He works in the Emergency Department at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, but still finds time to pursue his passion for photography, continually shooting subjects that he finds interesting.

The BHML is located at 4 Oak Street in Boothbay Harbor. See his photography anytime during business hours: Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
