LCHA presents first winter lecture on Feb. 5

Tue, 01/31/2017 - 10:30am

A talk entitled "Woven at Home - Textiles in the District of Maine and the rest of New England pre-1840," will be presented by Marjie Thompson, weaver, teacher, textile researcher, author, and vice president of the New Hampshire Weavers' Guild. Thompson will give a history lesson about the use and production of textiles in northern New England before factories made the household spinners and one or two weavers per town obsolete.

The lecture will begin at 1 p.m. in the Wiscasset Communications Building behind the County Court House on Route One in Wiscasset. Coffee and pastries will be served. A donation of $5 is appreciated.
