Dresden selectmen picked Gerald Lilly Sr. as assistant fire chief Monday, Oct. 16. Lilly had been serving as the interim assistant after Assistant Fire Chief Ron Theriault quit in August.

Selectmen made the decision following an executive session, called to review the resumes of Lilly and a second applicant, Sabrina Doray.

“We had two very good applications,” said Selectman Dale Hinote.

Hinote said Lilly has been a member of the fire company for 27 years and is a former fire chief for the department. Selectman Allan Moeller Sr. said Lilly will serve for the upcoming year, with the position to be reviewed again at town meeting in June 2018.

In other business, selectmen said they were continuing to negotiate with the finalist to replace Trudy Foss as administrative assistant. Hinote said the board was still discussing health benefits with the candidate. He said he hoped to announce Foss’s successor at the board’s meeting on Monday, Oct. 30.

The board postponed action on proposed revisions to the planning board’s  fee schedule until it can meet with Planning Board Chair Jeff Pierce and Code Enforcement Officer James Valley. Valley had sent the board a revised list of fee increases that were less than what planners had requested.

“Will it cover our costs?” asked Selectman Dwight Keene.

Moeller said Bog Road will be closed from Monday, Oct. 23 to Monday, Oct. 30 for culvert replacement.
