Considering the position you are running for, what do you feel are the three most pressing issues?

One of the important issues to me is that we sustain a budget that is feasible for taxpayers, and also meets the needs of the community's children in a fiscally responsible manner.   I also think that it’s important to continue the school’s collaboration between other community groups, such as Boothbay Region YMCA, Southport Memorial Library, and Boothbay Region Land Trust, to name a few.  These are terrific learning opportunities that are rarely found in other schools.  Lastly, I am excited to learn how the school board is run.  It will be interesting to be more involved and see how decisions are made at this level.

Any other thoughts on why you are running or what you can bring to the office?

As a former student, and now a parent of my own children who attend, I want to continue to see Southport Central School provide quality education. I also think it’s important to maintain the diversity of teacher styles, learning environments, and multi-age classroom arrangements. This seems to be a model that has well-prepared students for larger schools, when it is time for them to graduate.
